35 Day Padmasambhava Retreat
With Drupon Lama Tenzin and Erik Pema Kunsang
January 19 - February 27, 2026
For the fourth time, the 35 day Padmasambhava retreat will take place at Gomde, Denmark.
The Lotus-Born master gave methods for our times so people gain the biggest benefit in the shortest time. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche said that participating in a 35 day group retreat can help progress equal to a three-year retreat because this terma treasure has boundless blessings.
The retreat includes life-extension, the universal heart of compassion, and reconnecting with timeless enlightenment. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche taught the enormous benefits of visualizing the deity, chanting the mantras and placing awareness in samadhi. This method transforms the ordinary body, voice and mind. It loosens up negative karmic habits and creates tremendous merit. It stabilizes the ability to be in undistracted nondual and compassionate openness and forms a link for enlightened manifestation.
You will learn the practical application of tantra and how a tantric ritual corresponds to an inner meaning that frees awareness from habits. You learn how to use mantras and mudras in meditation as both reminders and as inner expressions of dignity and insight.
The Trinley Nyingpo is the basic text for the retreat. During the retreat, you gradually focus on each aspect of the practice, beginning with preliminaries and then each of the three kayas and activities. The great Khyentse and Chokgyur Lingpa revealed this entire practice. This treasure has a very short and flawless lineage through masters named Khyentse Rinpoche, Chokling Rinpoche and Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche.
Drupon Tenzin Sangpo leads the retreat and gives the instructions on how to do the practice and the rituals, and introduces each practice segment in a traditional way.
Erik Pema Kunsang explains the meaning of visualizing ourselves as a buddha, reciting the mantras, and training in structure-free meditation to transform and liberate awareness.
Group practice in the temple
The group practices will be either in Tibetan, led by Lama Tenzin, or in English, led by the Gomde Chant Team.
Empowerment
If you don’t have the empowerment, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche or Phakchok Rinpoche will visit Gomde over the summer of 2025 and give empowerment to Trinley Nyingpo.
Accommodation, meals and practice sessions at Strandgarden
This year, the retreat boundary includes rooms and dormitories at the Strandgarden facility near Gomde.
While staying at Strandgarden in a room, you can choose to do sessions privately or join the group practice in the Gomde temple.
All sessions are performed in the temple as a group if you live in a dorm.
There will be arranged shared car rides among participants between Strandgaarden and Gomde. You can also choose to stroll through the beautiful landscape to join meals and practice sessions at Gomde.
Online participation
Extraordinarily this year, you can participate in the retreat from your home and join the daily teachings and the group sessions streamed from the temple. You can also join as a part-time retreatant if you have health issues or other commitments.
More information on registration to join online will follow.
Learning Material
The printed texts are available at Gomde or as a PDF text for online participants. Bring your Trinley Nyingpo text, if you have it from earlier retreats.
When you register, you get access to the archive of teachings on the Trinley Nyingpo sadhana by Lama Tenzin and Erik Pema Kunsang from the previous 35 day retreat. Lama Tenzin recommends gaining familiarity with the practice before beginning the retreat.
Arrival and departure
All participants arrive two days before the retreat begins. It is important to have time to settle in and prepare your practice area as well as calm down from travel or the city blues.
After the retreat concludes, you stay two nights to conclude correctly. The two days before and after the retreat are included in the price.
