New Year retreat with

Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche
from December 27, 2011 to January 1, 2012.

Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, Helgenaes, Denmark

Discovering the Buddha Within

According to the deepest teachings of Buddhism, the Buddha is not just an external figure but the state of awakening itself, present within our being. Yet, how do we uncover this awakened state? And how do we make it a living experience so that we, too, can awaken in the deepest sense?

Answers to these questions have been known, nurtured and passed on as "secret" teachings originating from the primordial Buddha, through a lineage of wisdom masters. According to the tradition they have the power of transforming, in a very short time span, the ordinary mind into the very mind of the Buddha.

In this seminar, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche will pass on this lineage by giving teachings and meditation instruction on a series of short, yet very profound guidance texts that point out the nature of mind. The authors of these texts are three of the most well-known masters of Tibetan Buddhism: Milarepa, Gampopa, and Karmapa Rangjung Dorje.

Rinpoche will transmit these teachings and explain their message by sharing practical advice from his own realized masters and his own experience. This is a rare opportunity to connect with the wisdom lineage and receive guidance by a realized master.

  • Children are welcome

Children are welcome to join the winter seminar with their parents.

During Rinpoche's teachings group activities are available for children from ages 5 and older in a Gomde "kindergarten", with an experienced adult.

Children below 5 years of age must be supervised by a parent at all times. Please note that, to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during teaching and meditation sessions, children below 5 years are not allowed in the temple.

Overall responsibility for the supervision and safety of children stays, of course, with the parents.

    Pets
No pets are allowed at Gomde during the seminars and retreats.

    Daily tasks
All seminar participants will be assigned to groups to take care of practical tasks during the seminar. Expect to spend one hour each day, helping out. This allows you to train in integrating your meditation practice with daily activities, it keeps the seminar fees at a reasonable level, and - it is done in a pleasant helpful spirit, in good company. Make sure you know your group's duties and your group mates' needs.

    On arrival
Please register at the office as soon as possible. When you register, you will also be assigned to one of the working groups for daily tasks. Be sure to show up at your group's first coordination meeting.

Health considerations If you have any physical or psychological health problems, we like to recommend that you consult a physician or therapist before deciding to participate in the seminars. If you take any medicine as a medical treatment prescribed by your doctor, please do not discontinue it during your stay at Gomde. The seminars are based on Tibetan Buddhist teachings and they are not meant as a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. If you have any physical or psychological illness that could cause problems during your stay, please discuss them with us in advance. Contact Mette Sørensen at mette@gomde.dk.

    Translations
Teaching will be in Tibetan, translated into English.

    Seating on the floor
Traditionally, participants are seated on the floor during teachings and meditation. It is a good idea to bring your own cushions and blankets for comfortable seating. If you prefer to sit on a chair, a limited number are available.

    Donation to Rinpoche's travel
To follow a Buddhist tradition, and to keep prices low, you may consider a donation towards Rinpoche's travel expenses. As other donations, this can be any amount according to your situation - in the past sangha members have contributed, e.g. 3000, 500 or 200 DKK.

You can include the amount in your bank transfer. Thank you!
